We can only apologise
BTCC 2nd raceweekend at Brands Hatch Indy promised to be a close battle for every position. Qualifying times showed a gap from 1st – 10th at amazingly 0.784 seconds.
Fin Tagg grabbing pole with a great time and with the full field being no more than 2, 056 seconds off.
Race 1 is off to a great one. Full blast into T1 and the full grid is settling in, swapping places and rubbing doors up Druids and this paints the rest of the race. Giovanni pressured Fin for the first go and after 7 laps he got past. Keeping the lead from here on in. The BMW need a bit of time to warm up the tyres, but after that, here on BH Indy it is unbeatable. In the right hands.
For Team Portly racing, Cato and Peter Harvey, the race was a decent success. Showing that team racing is more than individual wins. Closing the gap to the team championship and getting up in front by closing the track for oponents. There was simply no getting by.
In this however there was a tangle between Peter and Oscar at the top of Druids and even though no one got hurt and cars where still intact, the tangle could have been avoided. Stewards has looked on it and decided to give “a stern talking to”.
The second part of Team Lunar, team boss Dean had a bit of a crisis this weekend and it started in Race 1 with spin outs and some unstable setups. Little did he know it was only just beginning.
Race 2 started with a spin
Oscar is no more than 5 seconds into Race 2 before he moves right in the field. Unfortunately Peters nose is in the way, funny that considering Oscar is the one with a nose….. This results in Oscar spinning out even before T1. Unfortunate error. Maybe his crewchief forgot to tell him he had a car on the right.
The rest of lap 1 goes fin until the last corner and our resident Tasman finds himself on the grass in his unruly BMW.
The field is pretty close in top 6 and door to door action is steaming down Paddock hill. Now the two top BMW drivers, Giovanni and Karl has found their spot in 1st and 2nd and they would not give up these spots for the entire race. That is some class driving.
Cato is now nipping at Fins behind like a disco fiend looking for booty in the 70s. And even though he manages to rub off a bit, he almost loose his own spot in the process.
There will be nothing if not close racing here. Cato in the front Civic fiercly trying to keep the spot from Fin on his left and Aaron on his right. Closely followed by team driver Peter.
This battle would go on for nearly another lap when Aaron, by giving Cato way to much room, goes wide coming into McLaren, slides on the grass, cross the track and back on, hitting Peter before going off. Clean racing by Aaron, but unfortunately it did not go his way this time.
Cato would leave Fin and Aaron behind while Peter would stay in 4th. Being a proper team driver he would end the race keeping Fin at 5th and securing a 3rd and 4th for Team Portly racing.
Dean is fighting his way back from the initial cold tyre malarkey and is not rubbing up Drews arse. This makes our resident scott very eeeeh not a happy bunny. And with a move worthy of even the mighty Jason Plato, Dean would get passed in Druids.
Dean would have a good push for the rest of the race, but on the closing laps he is to heavy on the throttle coming out of druids and finds himself facing the wrong way at the bottom of the hill. Annpyingly seing Oscar come past to take his spot.
The grid at the end of the race shows that there are some people moving up and some down on the grid, but the 2 on top is Karl and Giovanni. Throughout the race there where some pretty decent racing all around.
Race 3
I am sorry about the delayed report on Race 3. I have been captured enjoying the hospitality of Team Lunar Racing at their GIMP Dungeo.. guest hut by the sea.
Team Leader and resident Tasmanian Devil charm boy, Dean, has been keeping me tied busy with not waterboarding and nipple clamping, no no, it has been fantastic all weekend with no lasting injuries what so ever.
As we can see from the graphs, I am so sorry that the pictures I captured during the race has been deleted and my camera destroyed lost due to my own incompetanse. The graphs do tell the story though.
Hugo Correia Started first but got caught by a really fast set pace by Fin tagg, who got by in lap 11 and stayed there to take the win.
Drew white was not so lucky and ended his race in lap 3 with a bang. It was a calamity taking out much of the top brass with Jay Sharp ending his race in lap 7. This was an act of *DON’T HIT ME*. It was the hand of God doing this.
